AAXA's
Licensing Information
The mortgage industry is regulated by the government at the federal and state
level. These government agencies work to protect you,
the consumer, from being taken advantage of. At AAXA
Discount Mortgage we appreciate this regulation that
protects the best interests of our customers, and
are committed to 100% compliance with all licensing
requirements and regulations, in addition to upholding
our own corporate values and code of ethics.
Mortgage Licensing requirements vary greatly from
state to state but most often include:
- requiring loan advisors to take a course on origination
and pass an exam to prove they have learned the
required material before being issued a license
- requiring loan advisors to submit to a criminal
background check
- requiring loan advisors to complete continuing
education courses each licensing period (usually
every one or two years) so that they keep up to
date on changing regulations
- requiring the company to prove a minimum net worth,
and obtain a surety bond
- requiring that the company complete an annual
report detailing the business conducted in the state
the previous year
- requiring that the company participate in periodic
mortgage license audits of their business activity
to ensure it is complying with all state and federal
laws and regulations relating to mortgage broker
licensing
- require that loan advisors and the company pay
licensing fees to cover the cost of the state agency’s
oversight of the industry
